Montana SB519 amends state law to require Montana Department of Revenue property valuation staff to obtain written permission from landowners before entering private property to appraise or audit property for tax purposes. The bill specifies that the department may not enter private land to appraise or audit property unless the landowner or their agent gives permission or provides a certified appraisal. The department must notify landowners annually of its intent to enter property for appraisals. The bill also requires the department to adopt rules implementing these provisions.
