Montana SB453 would prohibit the sale or provision of electronic data to the federal government without express consent from the data owner.

Montana SB453, titled the "Electronic Data Ownership Act," establishes that electronic data created by or on behalf of a resident of Montana is the property of that individual. A person possessing such data holds it in trust for the individual. The bill prohibits selling or providing electronic data to the federal government without the express consent of the individual.
