Montana SB428 revises speed limits, allowing local authorities to set limits on county roads and arterial streets.
Montana SB428 revises where local authorities and county commissions may set speed limits. Local authorities can set limits on county roads and arterial streets without an engineering and traffic investigation. They can also set limits in school zones or near senior citizen centers. The bill allows for variable speed limits based on traffic conditions and requires consultation with district officials when altering school zones. Violations of speed limits are misdemeanor offenses.
