Montana SB283 revises laws for wind generation facilities, establishing new height and lighting requirements for wind turbine towers. Beginning January 1, 2026, wind turbine towers must not exceed 350 feet in height. Federal aviation administration-approved aircraft detection lighting systems must be installed on wind generation facilities with towers over 200 feet. The act also prohibits excessive lighting on wind turbines and their components, except for minimum federal aviation requirements. These provisions apply to wind turbine towers constructed or installed after January 1, 2026.
