Montana SB24 amends existing law to increase penalties for corporations, associations, or companies that obstruct railroad crossings outside of cities and towns. The bill raises fines for such obstructions from a minimum of $25 to a minimum of $750 and a maximum of $100 to a maximum of $1,500. The amendment applies to any obstruction that stops a railroad train, car, engine, or locomotive for more than 15 minutes or places an article on the track. The changes are effective immediately upon passage and approval.
