Montana SB194 eliminates the Board of Public Assistance and revises procedures for appeals related to public assistance claims. The bill repeals the Board of Public Assistance and transfers its duties to the department. Appeals for food stamps, cash assistance, nonfinancial assistance, or Medicaid can now be filed directly with the department. The department must provide a fair hearing and may review decisions on its own motion. The Board of Public Assistance will remain operational until all existing appeals are resolved.
