Montana HB95 revises laws on trapping or hunting beaver or muskrat that cause injury to structures.

Montana HB95 amends the law to allow employees or resident landowners on an irrigation project or district to kill or trap beaver or muskrat during the closed season if they cause severe injury to structures, canal banks, or other works of the project or district, or to a stock water pond. A permit is required, except from June 1 to August 31. The bill also adds rural or urban developed structures to the list of injured structures. A violation may result in fines, imprisonment, and the forfeiture of hunting, fishing, or trapping licenses.
