Montana HB935 allows the department to suspend or close new groundwater appropriations in the Fox Hills-Hell Creek aquifer if the proposed appropriation is 3,000 gallons a minute or more. The bill also appropriates $5,000 for a feasibility study on groundwater availability in specific administrative boundaries. The act is effective immediately upon passage and will terminate on June 30, 2027.
