Montana HB906 provides property tax rebates for principal residences, up to $319 for tax years 2022 and 2023. The rebates are funded by interest earnings in the capital developments long-range building program account. The Department of Revenue must mail notices to potential claimants by June 30, 2023, and June 30, 2024, for tax years 2022 and 2023, respectively. Claims must be submitted electronically or by mail by October 1 each year. The rebate is limited to one per taxpayer per tax year and is exempt from taxation. The bill also includes provisions for claims from estates and trusts.
