HB880

Establish a stabilization fund for medicaid

Vetoed·5/13/25

Establishes a Medicaid stabilization reserve account to mitigate reductions in state Medicaid matching funds.

Montana HB880 establishes a Medicaid stabilization reserve account within the state special revenue fund. This account aims to mitigate expenditure reductions for the Medicaid program by providing state Medicaid matching funds when a revenue shortfall is expected. The account can only be used if the budget director certifies a projected general fund budget deficit. Any interest or income earned on the account must be deposited back into it. The act also appropriates $50,000 from the general fund to the Department of Public Health and Human Services for state Medicaid matching funds.
