Establish state special revenue account for Montana Missing Indigenous Persons Task Force

Complete·2/27/25

Montana HB83 establishes a special revenue account for the Missing Indigenous Persons Task Force.

Montana HB83 creates a Missing Indigenous Persons Task Force state special revenue account to collect funds for the task force. The account is administered by the Department of Justice and can receive money from lawful sources. Interest and income earned on the account must remain in it. The act appropriates $1 from the account to the Department of Justice for the 2025-2027 biennium. The act also mandates notification to tribal governments and codifies the provisions in Title 44, Chapter 2, Part 4. The act becomes effective July 1, 2025, and terminates June 30, 2027.
