Montana HB816 revises DUI penalties, increasing fines and jail time for repeat offenses.

Montana HB816 revises laws related to driving under the influence, increasing penalties for repeat offenses. For a first DUI offense, the punishment is imprisonment for not less than 24 hours to 6 months and a fine of $600 to $1,000. For a second offense, the punishment is imprisonment for not less than 5 days to 1 year and a fine of $1,200 to $2,000. For a third offense, the punishment is imprisonment for not less than 30 days to 1 year and a fine of $2,500 to $5,000. If a minor is in the vehicle, penalties are increased.
