HB801

Montana HB801 clarifies liability for firearms manufacturers and sellers, limiting negligent marketing claims and defining predicate exceptions.

Montana HB801, the Montana Firearms Liability Clarification Act, aims to ensure firearms manufacturers and sellers are not unfairly held liable for criminal misuse of their products. It defines terms such as "firearm," "manufacturer," and "negligent marketing." The act limits negligent marketing claims to cases where the marketing practice directly targeted individuals prohibited from owning firearms, encouraged unlawful use, had a direct causal link to harm, and violated specific firearm statutes.
