Montana HB771 would revise university housing laws to allow freshmen to live off-campus with an immediate family member within a one-hour drive of the campus. Immediate family includes parents, legal guardians, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and siblings aged 18 or older. Universities must approve or deny off-campus housing requests within two business days. The bill defines immediate family and sets an effective date of July 1, 2025.
