Montana HB651 allows temporary door locks during emergency situations in public buildings.
Montana HB651 permits the use of temporary door locks in public buildings during shelter-in-place or emergency lockdown situations. These locks must be approved by local authorities and comply with specific safety standards, including not affecting the fire rating of the door. The bill also amends the fire code to allow these locks on fire exits, hallways, corridors, and entranceways leading to fire exits, provided they are used only during emergencies and meet certain criteria.
