HB44

Montana HB44 revises laws on tampering with evidence in homicide cases, increasing penalties.

Montana HB44 amends the state's laws on tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. It increases penalties for tampering with evidence in connection with a homicide or homicide investigation. Specifically, it raises the maximum prison term from 10 years to 40 years and the maximum fine from $50,000 to $100,000. This applies when tampering affects a medical examiner's ability to determine a cause of death.
