Montana HB429 establishes a special revenue account for investing in precious metals and digital assets.

Montana HB429 creates an Inflation Protection Act state special revenue account within the state special revenue fund. The Board of Investments is authorized to invest these funds in precious metals, digital assets with a market cap over $750 billion, and stablecoins. These investments must be held by a qualified custodian or through an exchange-traded fund. The state treasurer must transfer up to $50 million from the general fund to this account by July 15, 2025. The act defines "digital asset," "exchange-traded product," "precious metal," and "stablecoin." The act is effective July 1, 2025.
