Montana HB256 creates a Montana water development state special revenue account and a water storage state special revenue account. The water development account receives $50 million from the general fund by August 1, 2026. The water storage account receives ten percent of the interest earned from the water development account for water storage pilot projects and dam inspections. The water storage account also receives severance tax proceeds and other specified funds for water storage projects. The accounts are intended to be codified as part of Title 85, chapter 1, part 3.
