Montana HB197 amends workers’ compensation laws to terminate temporary total disability benefits when a claimant is released to full duty, either prior to or on reaching maximum medical improvement. The bill requires insurers to have a physician's determination of the claimant's physical restrictions and job suitability before terminating benefits. It mandates insurers to provide 14 days' written notice before terminating or reducing benefits, except when the insurer knows the claimant has returned to work. The act is effective immediately upon passage and approval.
