Amends Senate Rules 84 and 85 to modify the motion for the previous question.
This bill proposes changes to Senate Rules 84 and 85, specifically altering the form and conditions of the motion for the previous question. Rule 84 now specifies that the previous question must be in the form: "Shall the main question be now put?" and requires a written demand from ten senators, sustained by a two-thirds vote, to be admitted. Rule 85 mandates that no debate is allowed on the motion for the previous question, and any incidental questions of order must be decided without debate.
