S.J.Res.97

Modifies term limits for members of the General Assembly

Introduced·1/7/26
Introduced Text

Missouri SJR97 proposes to amend the state constitution to change term limits for General Assembly members.

Missouri SJR97 seeks to modify the term limits for members of the General Assembly. It proposes to repeal the existing term limits and replace them with new rules. Specifically, it would allow no more than eight years of service in any one house and sixteen years total in both houses, starting from December 3, 2026. Service before this date would still count towards the total term limit. This amendment, if passed, would be put to a vote at the next general election.
