SB1777

Allows low-performing Missouri school districts to contract with approved entities for public school transformation.

This bill permits school districts with low performance scores to contract with state-approved entities to establish a "Public School Transformation Campus." These entities can include the district's own governing body or a nonprofit education management organization. The state board of education must approve these contracts. The transformation campuses will have an alternate performance status for the first two years and will be exempt from certain provisions. The state board of education will continue to evaluate and assign performance ratings to these campuses after the initial two years.
