Establishes provisions for college and career readiness assessments in Missouri high schools.
Missouri SB1729 establishes that credentials earned through the ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate can be used as credit toward postsecondary technical degrees. It mandates that each public high school administer career readiness assessments, including those leading to a nationally recognized work readiness certificate, before graduation. The state board of education will set the rules for these assessments. Public school districts can offer additional assessments. The bill also repeals and replaces sections of existing law to reflect these changes.
