SB1718

Missouri SB1718 modifies workers' compensation laws, defining employer responsibilities and penalties for fraud.

Missouri SB1718 repeals and replaces sections 287.030 and 287.128 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri, clarifying the definition of "employer" and outlining penalties for fraud. Employers with five or more employees in construction are specifically included. The bill prohibits presenting false claims, assisting in fraud, and knowingly making false statements to obtain benefits. Penalties range from misdemeanors to felonies, with fines up to $10,000 or double the value of the fraud. The attorney general must report annually on fraud prosecution costs.
