SB1715

Missouri SB1715 establishes whistleblower protections for public utility employees.

Missouri SB1715 creates provisions to protect whistleblowers within public utilities. The bill mandates that the Missouri Public Service Commission and the Missouri Office of the Public Counsel each designate an ombudsman to accept complaints from employees reporting unlawful acts or serious misconduct. The bill outlines procedures for handling these complaints, including confidentiality, investigatory meetings, and opportunities for the whistleblower to comment on preliminary reports. It also ensures that whistleblowers have the same legal remedies as those under section 285.575.
