SB1676

Creates new provisions relating to persons with impaired or limited ability to communicate with law enforcement

Introduced·2/18/26
Introduced Text

Missouri SB1676 establishes a system for residents with communication impairments to notify law enforcement.

Missouri SB1676, known as "Mason's Law," allows residents with physical or mental health conditions that impair their ability to communicate with law enforcement to apply for a designation on their motor vehicle registration. This designation alerts law enforcement of the communication impairment. The designation remains active for five years and can be renewed. The Department of Revenue issues the designation, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol updates the Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES) with the information.
