Authorizes a tax credit for certain firearm safety training courses

Introduced·1/12/26
Introduced Text

Missouri SB1537 authorizes a tax credit for costs of qualified firearm safety courses for eligible youth.

Missouri SB1537 allows taxpayers to claim a tax credit for the costs of enrolling eligible youth in qualified firearm safety courses. The credit is equal to 100% of the costs incurred, up to $100 per eligible youth per tax year. Eligible youth are defined as individuals under 18 years old who are residents of Missouri and claimed as dependents on the taxpayer's return. The Missouri Department of Public Safety will maintain a list of qualified courses on its website and may create rules to implement the provisions. The tax credit cannot be transferred, sold, or assigned.
