Missouri SB1415 proposes to change the appointment and election process for state judges.
Missouri SB1415 amends the state's judicial appointment and election process. It repeals the current system where judges of the supreme court and court of appeals are appointed by the governor from nominees selected by a nonpartisan commission. Instead, it establishes that all judges of the supreme court and court of appeals will be appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. Additionally, the bill mandates that all circuit and associate circuit judges will be elected by the public.
