SB1314

Authorizes parents to choose the school that their children attend

Introduced·1/7/26
Introduced Text

Missouri SB1314 allows parents to choose the school their children attend, redirecting state aid to the chosen school.

Missouri SB1314 amends Chapter 163 to allow parents to direct state aid to a qualified school of their choice, starting from the 2026-2027 school year. A qualified school includes charter schools, private schools, public schools, and public or private virtual schools that meet certain criteria. If a student enrolls in a school outside their resident district, they will not count towards the district's weighted average daily attendance for state and federal aid purposes. The bill is deemed an emergency measure to ensure certainty in schooling and child care arrangements.
