SB1246

Missouri SB1246 modifies self-defense laws, allowing broader use of force in defense of oneself or others.

Missouri SB1246 revises self-defense provisions, allowing individuals to use physical force when they reasonably believe it is necessary to defend themselves or others from unlawful force. It removes the duty to retreat in certain situations, such as in one's own home or on private property. The bill also establishes a presumption of reasonableness for the belief that force was necessary for self-defense. It provides immunity from criminal prosecution and civil action for using or threatening force, except against law enforcement officers acting in their official capacity.
