Missouri SB1236 mandates physicians to inform patients about benefits received from drug or device manufacturers.
Missouri SB1236 amends Chapter 191 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri to require physicians to disclose to patients any benefits they have received from manufacturers of drugs, medical devices, or biologics. This disclosure must be made both verbally and in writing during office visits. The written notice must include a website address for the Open Payments database and a statement about the federal Physician Payments Sunshine Act. Physicians must also post this notice on their websites if they have one. The bill exempts physicians working in hospital emergency departments.
