SB1095

Modifies the candidate filing period for local elections

Introduced·1/7/26
Introduced Text

Modifies the candidate filing period for local elections in Missouri.

The bill modifies the candidate filing period for local elections in Missouri. It sets the opening filing date at 8:00 a.m. on the sixteenth Tuesday prior to the election and the closing filing date at 5:00 p.m. on the thirteenth Tuesday prior to the election, or the next non-holiday if the thirteenth Tuesday is a holiday. It also mandates legal notice of elections to be published in newspapers and allows for alternative notice methods in certain circumstances. The bill repeals and replaces section 115.127 of RSMo with new provisions regarding election notice and candidate withdrawal.
