Introduced Text

Allows offenders convicted of felony drug offenses to access supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits.

Missouri HB2835 allows individuals convicted of felony offenses involving possession, distribution, or use of a controlled substance to be exempt from the prohibition against eligibility for the supplemental nutrition assistance program. This exemption applies if the individual is participating in a substance abuse treatment program, has completed such a program, or has demonstrated sobriety through urinalysis testing. The bill also specifies that the exemption does not apply to individuals with two subsequent felony offenses involving controlled substances.
