Missouri HB2731 introduces a tax credit for taxpayers who adopt rescue animals from shelters. The credit offsets up to $125 of adoption fees and associated costs. The credit is valid for tax years starting after January 1, 2027, and is capped at two credits per taxpayer per year. The Department of Revenue will administer the credit, and shelters must provide receipts to taxpayers. The credit is refundable and cannot be transferred.
