HB2726

Creates provisions relating to insurance coverage of drugs

Introduced·1/7/26
Introduced Text

Missouri HB2726 mandates that health carriers and health benefit plans cannot require enrollees to switch drugs without their health care provider's.

Missouri HB2726 amends Chapter 376 to add a new section, 376.2048, which stipulates that health carriers and health benefit plans cannot mandate an enrollee to use a different drug unless the enrollee's health care provider approves the change in writing. This provision applies to health benefit plans delivered, issued for delivery, continued, or renewed in Missouri starting January 1, 2027. The law does not prevent the substitution of an interchangeable biological product or apply to drugs restricted by a step therapy protocol.
