The bill modifies the offense of possession of unlawful items in a prison or jail by changing the classification of certain violations. It specifies that possession of unauthorized portable electronic communication devices is a class D felony. It also allows the chief operating officer of a county or city jail or the administrator of a private jail to deny visitation privileges or refer to the county prosecuting attorney for prosecution any person who knowingly delivers, attempts to deliver, possesses, deposits, or conceals in or about the premises of such jail or facility any personal item.
