Establishes the Healthy Pets Act to regulate commercial breeders and pet shops in Missouri.
The Healthy Pets Act mandates commercial breeders to conduct genetic testing, vaccinations, and x-ray screenings for hip dysplasia on animals before selling them. Pet shops and dealers must provide detailed records of genetic testing, medical care, and parentage with each animal sold. They must also warrant animals against genetic or major medical conditions for one year from purchase. Violations by dealers and pet shops can result in fines, license revocation, and criminal charges.
