HB2495

Prohibits employers from engaging in certain forms of discrimination based on gender

Introduced·1/7/26
Introduced Text

Missouri HB2495 prohibits gender-based discrimination in employment compensation.

Missouri HB2495 amends existing law to prohibit employers from discriminating based on gender in providing compensation for equal work. The bill allows exceptions for wage differences based on seniority, merit, or quantity of production, but not for gender. Employers found in violation may face court orders to reclassify workers, pay lost wages, and cover compensatory damages. Employees can also seek punitive damages and attorney's fees. The Missouri Commission on Human Rights will continue its education and advocacy efforts to eliminate gender discrimination in employment.
