Missouri HB2451 modifies the offense of making a false report by adding new scenarios and defenses.

Missouri HB2451 amends the offense of making a false report by repealing and replacing section 575.080 of RSMo. The revised law adds scenarios where knowingly giving false information to implicate another person or falsely reporting an offense constitutes a crime. It also introduces a defense if the person retracts the false statement before any substantial action is taken based on it. The offense is classified as a class B misdemeanor.
