Missouri HB2440 changes the minimum age for serving on a petit or grand jury to nineteen years.
Missouri HB2440 amends the state's statutes to change the minimum age for serving on a petit or grand jury from a lower age to nineteen years. The bill also maintains other disqualifications, including non-citizenship, lack of residency, felony convictions, language barriers, active military duty, judicial roles, and incapacity due to mental or physical conditions. This change aims to ensure that jurors meet a certain maturity level while continuing to exclude those who cannot fulfill the duties of a juror effectively.
