HB2204

Missouri HB2204 requires entities to report expenditures intended to influence public opinion, including paid protest activities.

Missouri HB2204 mandates that entities paying for public communications or protest activities must report these expenditures to the Missouri ethics commission. These reports must include details such as the sponsoring entity's name, total expenditure amount, and the date and location of the activity. The reports are treated as public records. Entities failing to report or including false information face civil penalties. The law does not apply to personal social media posts, genuine news coverage, or internal communications.
