HB2089

HB2089 authorizes a homestead exemption for Missouri veterans with service-connected disabilities.

HB2089 establishes the "Missouri Disabled Veterans Homestead Exemption," providing annual property tax exemptions for veterans with service-connected disabilities. The exemption amount varies based on the veteran's disability rating, ranging from $100 to 100% of the assessed tax. The exemption applies to the veteran's primary residence and can transfer to a surviving spouse's new residence if certain conditions are met. The exemption is subject to annual reapplication and sunsets six years after enactment unless reauthorized. The exemption does not affect the tax rate-setting process.
