HB1722

Missouri HB1722 modifies election dates, terms, and term limits for school board members.

Missouri HB1722 changes the election dates, terms, and term limits for school board members. Starting in 2028, elections for school board members will be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of even-numbered years. Members elected in 2028 and thereafter will serve two-year terms, with a maximum of eight years of total service. For members serving before 2028, their terms will be modified according to section 162.082. The bill also mandates that school board elections be partisan, requiring candidates to declare a party affiliation or file as independents.
