HB1712

Modifies the offense of tampering with electronic monitoring equipment to include failing to charge or disable the equipment.

The bill modifies the offense of tampering with electronic monitoring equipment by adding new provisions. It now includes intentionally failing to charge or otherwise disabling the equipment as part of the offense. This change applies to individuals required to wear electronic monitoring equipment by a court, the division of probation and parole, or the parole board. The offense is classified as a class D felony, unless the original offense was a misdemeanor, in which case it is a class A misdemeanor.
