Missouri HB1647 modifies the state's tort law to prevent plaintiffs from recovering damages twice when an insurer reimburses them for deductibles and damages. If a defendant or their insurer pays a plaintiff's insurer for deductibles or damages before a liability claim is filed, the plaintiff cannot recover those same damages from the defendant. The bill also specifies that evidence of collateral sources or payments rendered under certain conditions is not admissible unless provided for in the bill. The bill repeals and replaces section 490.715 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri.
