Modifies statute of limitations for personal injury claims and childhood sexual abuse, injury, or illness.
This bill changes the statute of limitations for personal injury claims and childhood sexual abuse, injury, or illness. It sets a five-year limit for most personal injury claims and a two-year limit for actions like libel, slander, and assault. For childhood sexual abuse, the statute of limitations is extended to twenty years after the plaintiff turns twenty-one or three years from when the plaintiff discovers the injury, whichever is later. The bill also voids nondisclosure agreements in childhood sexual abuse cases and applies to actions accruing after August 28, 2026.
