Expands the jurisdiction of the state grand jury to include officer-involved shootings and public corruption crimes.

This bill proposes an amendment to the Mississippi Constitution to expand the jurisdiction of the state grand jury. It allows the grand jury to handle cases involving officer-involved shootings, public corruption, embezzlement, fraud, and violations of the Mississippi Uniform Controlled Substances Law. The amendment removes the requirement that crimes must occur in more than one circuit court district to be within the grand jury's jurisdiction. The proposed change will be voted on by qualified electors in November 2026.
