Mississippi SB2891 amends the state code to require an election in any part of a county that is the subject of a municipal annexation or removal ordinance. The municipal governing authority must pay the costs of the election. The election must be held within 60 days of the ordinance's passage, with notice published in a local newspaper for three consecutive weeks. The annexation is approved if 50% plus one vote of the qualified electors voting in the election approves the ordinance. The results are final unless appealed to the chancery court.
