SB2835

Motor vehicle registration; parts dealers and scrap metal processors may use third-party vendors meeting DOR requirements.

Complete·3/13/26

Allows used motor vehicle parts dealers and scrap metal processors to use third-party vendors for vehicle registration compliance.

This bill amends Section 63-21-18 of the Mississippi Code to allow used motor vehicle parts dealers and scrap metal processors to use third-party vendors that meet the Department of Revenue's requirements, instead of the department's automated statewide motor vehicle registration system, to verify the absence of any lien on a motor vehicle before it may be purchased or received for scrapping, dismantling, or destruction. The bill also outlines procedures for counties to comply with the statewide vehicle registration system and the consequences for noncompliance.
