The Mississippi Long-Term Care Ombudsman Act establishes a program within the Mississippi Department of Human Services to protect the health, safety, welfare, and rights of residents in long-term care facilities. The act creates the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, headed by a state ombudsman appointed by the executive director. The program includes ombudsmen who are certified by the state ombudsman and must complete initial and continuing education training.
